According to a statement issued by the Edhi Foundation, Faisal Edhi
wrote in his letter that we are keeping a close eye on the impact of the Corona
Crisis on the people of India.

He wrote we are saddened to hear of the very serious effects of Corona
in your country, where a large number of people are suffering immensely.

He offered to send 50 ambulances and a team of volunteers to India,
saying he was ready to lead a team of volunteers.

He said that Edhi Foundation is aware of the seriousness of the situation
and we are ready to extend full support to India while our team will arrange
all necessary equipment to help the Indian people.

Chairman Edhi Foundation clarified in his letter that “we are not
requesting any assistance from you, we will arrange the fuel, food and other
essentials required by our team”.

He said our team is made up of emergency medical technicians, office
staff, drivers, and support staff.

He said that in addition to permission to enter India for the
implementation of the proposed service, necessary instructions are requested
from the local administration and the police department.

Faisal Edhi wrote in the letter that “we are ready to deploy our
team in any critical situation without any hesitation at your direction”.

The agency said in a statement that Faisal Edhi would leave for India
with his special volunteer team as soon as permission was granted.

Speaking to Hindustan Times, Faisal Edhi said that his organization had
offered help in the wake of recent reports of difficulties facing the Indian
people.

Hospitals in northern and western India, including the capital New
Delhi, had issued notices stating that they had only a few hours of oxygen
available to keep Corona patients alive.

According to the Delhi government’s online database, more than
two-thirds of hospitals have been filled and doctors have instructed patients
to stay at home.

It should be noted that more than 314,000 cases were reported in India
in one day.
