The Documentary of Karakoram Highway Release on ISPR Youtube Channel

Highway: Wearman and Mountain Mate’ has been produced by Dalrim Productions in
collaboration with Frontier Works Organization (WFO), a Pakistan Army
construction company.

The Karakoram Highway documentary was aired on PTV, and has now been released on ISPR’s YouTube channel.
The documentary has been released
on the Karakoram Highway, which connects Pakistan and China through land and is
called the Eighth Wonder of the World.
The documentary was aired on
Pakistan Television (PTV) World on January 1, 2022, and was later released on
the Pakistan Army Public Relations (ISPR) YouTube channel.
The documentary, which is less
than 50 minutes long, shows scenes around the Karakoram Highway, which is set
in the foothills of the mountains at an altitude of 4,000 feet above sea level.
The documentary also includes
historical videos shot at the beginning of the construction of the Karakoram
Highway, as well as interviews with engineers and experts working as
construction workers on the road.
The documentary also describes
for the first time the accidents that occurred during the construction of the
road called the Eighth Wonder of the World.
The documentary also features
hosts and writers Mustansar Hussain Tarar and other officials and individuals
who played a role in the construction of the highway.
The trailer of the documentary
titled “Karakoram Highway: Wearman and Mountain Mate” was initially
released by ISPR on 12 December 2021 and was announced to be released on 18
December 2021.

However, it was later announced
to be aired on PTV on January 1, 2022 and now it has not only been aired on
state TV but also online.
While the Karakoram Highway is
considered the eighth wonder of the world, it is also one of the most dangerous
roads in the world.
The road connects the northern
part of Pakistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, with the Chinese province of Xinjiang by
land, also known as the Silk Road.
The Karakoram Highway reaches
Hassan Abdal in Punjab and joins the GT Road which starts from the Chinese city
of Kashgar.
The Karakoram Highway is 1300 km
long and its construction was started in 1966 and its completion was completed
20 years later in 1986. 813 Pakistanis lost their lives in its construction.
